Your Personal Data

Welsh Labour Grassroots will be what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal information (“data”) you provide to us.

How do we collect personal data?

You may be asked for personal information if you complete one of the forms on this site (such as to join or renew membership of Welsh Labour Grassroots), or if you fill out a form or leaflet delivered by a local Welsh Labour Grassroots representative, a standing order form or communicate with us. This will include information such as name and address, email, CLP, Labour Party and trade union membership, age, and sometimes bank details if you complete a standing order form.

In order to check you maintain the conditions of and help you fulfil the opportunities provided by membership of Welsh Labour Grassroots, we may also use any information which you have made public, caused others to make public or which is already in the public domain.

Welsh Labour Grassroots does not knowingly process any personal details from individuals under the age of 14 without parent/guardian consent. Details of under 18s are processed for membership purposes or for other purposes defined prior to the data being submitted.

Why we need it

We need to know your personal data in order to be able to ensure you benefit fully from your membership of Welsh Labour Grassroots and administer your membership of the organisation. We will not collect any personal data we do not need in order to fulfil the terms of your membership.

Do we share your data?

Welsh Labour Grassroots and its elected representatives and volunteers nationally and locally, as well as candidates seeking selection in internal Labour Party contests, may contact you using this information. Although we may share your information with like-minded political organisations, we will never sell or share your personal information to other organisations for their direct marketing purposes. Under certain circumstances, we may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).

What we do with it

All the personal data we hold and process is processed by our volunteers in the UK. For the purposes of IT hosting, maintenance and mailings, personal information you give to Welsh Labour Grassroots is stored on secure servers. Occasionally, your personal information may need to be transferred to countries or jurisdictions outside the EEA, but we will always expect these will be covered by the EU/Swiss and EU/US Privacy Shields, approved by the European Commission.

Our website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of any information under our control.

Our site contains links to other sites and servers. Welsh Labour Grassroots is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

Cookies

A cookie is a tiny text file that is stored on your computer. We may use cookies in order to tailor your experience on our site according to the preferences you have specified. However we will only access the information that we stored in your cookie file. We will not access any information stored in a cookie by other websites. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information.

How long we keep it

We may sometimes be required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time our financial records will be destroyed. Otherwise your personal information is retained only long enough for us to administer your membership of Welsh Labour Grassroots.

What are your rights?

If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you can request to see this information and even have it corrected (“rectified”) or deleted. You have the right to “data portability” for the information you provide to us, meaning you can request a copy of your Personal Data in a commonly used electronic format.

We provide you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us easily and promptly. Our unsubscribe requests are processed regularly.
